I’m Alexander, and I'm an artist from Greenville, South Carolina. Growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, immersed in the faith, foodways, and culture of the Appalachian South, I developed a unique artistic vision that embraces the dichotomies of our world - decay and growth, light and dark, and death and resurrection. My art grapples with finding meaning in a world that is broken but nonetheless has pockets which provide an indication of things above. My artwork aims to reflect the beauty in the brokenness.
My abilities as an artist have been cultivated from an early age. My family were my earliest patrons and critics; continually encouraging me to cultivate my creativity and aim for excellence. I studied art and design in high school through focused art classes, which offered me my first forays into art exhibitions and publication. I have recently completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Post-graduation, I'm working in design professionally whilst simultaneously building stability as a freelance illustrator.
I turn to the natural world for inspiration, so when I’m not in the studio I can be found exploring local state parks and other wild places as well as abandoned industrial sites, which I feel are liminal spaces between our imperfect past, our industrialized present and a more natural future. Please do reach out to me through my contact page to ask any questions or inquire about professional endeavors. I look forward to working with you!
